PARTY TIPS:

Set realistic goals and expectations for yourself. Don’t plan to attend and not eat anything at all. Eat smaller meals throughout the day, but don’t skip any meals completely. Eat a snack before you go to the party so you’re not faced with the “I have to eat something, I’m starving” syndrome. Hunger will override your sense of reason at this point and will only get you into trouble. Volunteer to bring a vegetable tray with a non-fat dip or any other low-fat, low calorie dish. While at the party, serve yourself a plate (keeping in mind your portions, of course) and then walk away from the refreshment table. Sit as far away from the food as possible. Focus on meeting and talking to new people instead of the food available. Sip a diet soda or mineral water with a twist of lemon or lime. Alcohol is the second most caloric dense of nutrients after fat.
